Your Physiotherapist

Heather Spalton Bsc (Hons) Phty MAPA

Heather is a registered Physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA). Since graduating from Brunel University in the UK in 2002, Heather has built a career grounded in excellence, compassion, and a strong commitment to rehabilitation.

She began her career at Derby Hospitals NHS Trust, gaining broad experience before specialising in amputee rehabilitation at the Derby Amputee Rehabilitation Centre. It was here that she developed a passion for working with vascular and lower limb amputee clients.

A love of travel brought Heather to Brisbane in 2005, where she spent 11 years as a Senior Physiotherapist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. She worked primarily on the dedicated amputee rehabilitation ward and the Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit (GARU), supporting adults with complex rehabilitation needs.

Heather went on to work as an Advanced Physiotherapist for the Rehab@Home and Transitional Care Program (TCP), delivering community-based rehabilitation across Brisbane’s Bayside. This role deepened her understanding of the real-world challenges faced by individuals living with disability or chronic health conditions at home.

Heather remains actively involved in the professional community. She is a member of the Queensland Amputee Special Interest Group, contributes to the Amputees & Families Support Group Qld, and serves as a guest educator in amputee rehabilitation for physiotherapy students at the University of Queensland, Griffith University, and Bond University. She also maintains professional memberships with AUSPAR, BACPAR, and the APA Gerontology group to stay current with advances in rehabilitation.

Outside of work, Heather is an avid beekeeper, trail walker, Park Runner, and happy camper.
